Fees and Shortfalls.
A shortfall is when your Insurer does not fully meet the fee charged by the Consultant and you are liable for the difference. For Surgery we usually provide you with both an operation code and an estimate so you can check with your Insurance Company. Fees will depend on complexity and Insurance schedules do not always take this into account.
Simple UK cases are usually charged within most Insurance Company Schedules but patients insured with Pru Health and Simply Health are particularly advised to check there will be no shortfall.
Please note that Anaesthetists fees for surgery are charged separately and will be invoiced separately by the Anaesthetist. Due to unchanging levels of reimbursement by Insurance Companies in many cases there will be a shortfall even for major British Insurers. We will endeavor to obtain an estimate on your behalf prior to surgery.
